PDP leadership crisis shows unworthiness of key actors — Anthony Kila

Anthony Kila, Director of the Centre for International, Advanced and Professional Studies, has criticized the behaviour of key figures in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), describing their actions as disgraceful and indicative that they are unfit to lead.

Speaking on Wednesday on Channels Television The Morning Brief, Kila said the internal chaos at the PDP secretariat in Abuja, including clashes between rival factions, highlights the erosion of leadership standards and the prevalence of thuggery over dialogue.

He also expressed concern over the judiciary’s frequent involvement in party disputes, warning that it undermines public trust in the judicial system.

The crisis escalated when factions led by Taminu Turaki, Governor Seyi Makinde, and Bala Mohammed attempted to assume control of the PDP secretariat.

Supporters of rival leader Anyanwu resisted, prompting police intervention with teargas and the cordoning off of the building. Both sides have expelled each other from the party, deepening the leadership rift.

Kila described the situation as “inevitable” due to long-standing anti-party activities and internal divisions, likening it to a “rotten fish” whose smell exposes the deeper problem.
