Tinubu pushes service chiefs for sharper, faster security results

President Bola Tinubu has charged Nigeria’s security leadership to intensify their efforts and deliver more effective outcomes in the ongoing battle against insecurity across the country.

The President issued the directive on Tuesday during a closed-door meeting with service chiefs and heads of intelligence agencies at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The session, which lasted over an hour, focused on reviewing current operations and adjusting strategies to improve security responses nationwide.

Speaking after the meeting, the Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede, described the engagement as “robust and productive,” noting that the President outlined new priorities aimed at accelerating results on all fronts.

According to him, security agencies are now working more cohesively and are determined to ensure that Nigerians experience a peaceful holiday season.

“We are coordinating better, and Nigerians should be confident that we are doing everything necessary to secure the country as we approach the yuletide,” Oluyede assured.

Meanwhile, Abia State Governor Alex Otti also visited President Tinubu on Tuesday.

Although the details of their discussion were not disclosed, the meeting comes amid renewed efforts by the governor to secure the release of the detained leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.

Governor Otti recently visited Kanu at the Sokoto prison where the IPOB leader is currently serving his sentence.

He was accompanied by Kanu’s brother, Emmanuel Kanu; Abia State Attorney-General Ikechukwu Uwanna (SAN); and his media adviser Ferdinand Ekeoma.

Otti has repeatedly pledged to continue pursuing all lawful avenues to secure Kanu’s release, and Tuesday’s visit to the President is widely viewed as part of ongoing political and diplomatic consultations at the federal level.
