Tinubu’s administration delivers key infrastructure projects in northern Nigeria — RHA

The Renewed Hope Ambassadors (RHA) have said that President Bola Tinubu’s administration has executed significant infrastructure and development projects across Northern Nigeria, particularly in the North-West, in line with his campaign promises to the region.

The statement was issued after the conclusion of the tour by Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Special Duties, Tunde Rahman, who spoke on behalf of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors.

The inspection covered major project sites in the Federal Capital Territory, Kaduna, Kano, Jigawa, and Kebbi States.

According to the RHA, the federal government is currently implementing 260 Special Intervention Projects nationwide through the Ministry of Works, with the North-West accounting for 48 projects — the highest among all geopolitical zones.

The group said this reflected what it described as the administration’s commitment to equitable national development.

Road Infrastructure Projects Progressing
During the tour, the delegation inspected the Abuja–Kaduna–Kano Expressway project, where construction works are ongoing, including the use of 20-centimetre reinforced concrete pavement and the installation of solar-powered streetlights.

The RHA noted that Section 1 of the road, stretching from Zuba Junction to a point beyond Jere, is nearly completed except for a small remaining portion of about 300 metres.

Work has also commenced on Section 2, with completion of Section 1 scheduled for November 2026.

In Kaduna State, the team visited the Kaduna Western Bypass, a 21-kilometre dual carriageway project that had been abandoned for over 20 years.

The RHA said construction has now reached about 50 per cent completion, with funding reportedly stable and work ongoing.

The delegation also inspected the Kaduna–Kano–Katsina–Maradi railway project, a transnational rail line designed to connect several Northern states with Niger Republic.

The project is expected to enhance transportation, trade, and agricultural activities across the region.

A flyover bridge being constructed in Kaduna as part of the railway corridor is expected to be completed by December 2026.

In Kano State, the Abuja–Kano highway was reported to be about 95 per cent completed.

The team also visited ongoing works at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, including the Cardiovascular Centre, Paediatric Centre, and student hostel projects, which are part of federal constituency interventions.

Other projects inspected in Kano included a N27 billion irrigation scheme in Garko, a solar energy project under the Energy Commission of Nigeria, and a 10-hectare Agricultural Incubation Centre at Bayero University, developed by the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI).

The delegation also visited the headquarters of the North West Development Commission, established by the federal government to coordinate regional development initiatives.

In addition, they inspected a N47 billion ecological intervention project in the Jakara area, originally a state initiative but now taken over by the federal government for completion.
Projects in Jigawa and Kebbi

In Jigawa State, the delegation observed that the Jigawa section of the Kaduna–Kano–Katsina–Maradi railway project is virtually completed.

In Kebbi State, work on the Sokoto–Badagry Super Highway is progressing steadily. Sections 2A and 2B of the project, spanning from kilometre 120 to kilometre 385, are at different stages of completion.

Site clearance, filling, stone base, sub-surface works, and concrete pavement construction are ongoing, with about 19 kilometres already covered.

Completion levels were estimated at 40 per cent for Section 2A and 16 per cent for Section 2B.

The Renewed Hope Ambassadors said the scale of ongoing infrastructure projects demonstrates that the Tinubu administration has maintained strong development focus on Northern Nigeria.

They argued that the combination of road, rail, agriculture, and ecological projects would boost economic activity, improve transportation, enhance agricultural productivity, and create employment opportunities across the region.

The group further stated that the visible spread of federal projects contradicts claims that the North has been neglected, urging critics to conduct independent assessments of ongoing works across project sites.

According to the RHA, the administration’s development efforts show clear evidence of commitment to regional balance, insisting that the government has “kept faith with the North” through tangible infrastructure delivery.
