NIMC launches WhatsApp, live chat support channels

The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has introduced new WhatsApp and live chat support platforms to enhance customer service and simplify access to National Identification Number (NIN) enquiries for Nigerians and legal residents.
In a statement issued on Monday, the Commission said the initiative is part of its ongoing digital transformation and service reform agenda under the leadership of its Director-General and Chief Executive Officer, Abisoye Coker-Odusote.
According to NIMC, the newly launched platforms are designed to provide faster, more convenient, and real-time assistance to members of the public, reducing the need for physical visits to its offices across the country.
The Commission explained that users can now access support through a live chat feature available on its official website, NIMC Official Website, as well as via its dedicated WhatsApp support line at +234 701 566 6971.
It said the initiative aligned with the federal government’s Renewed Hope Agenda under President Bola Tinubu, which promotes technology-driven improvements in public service delivery.
NIMC added that the platforms would provide prompt responses to enquiries, real-time guidance, and verified information relating to NIN services and broader identity management processes.
The Commission further stated that the reforms being driven by its leadership are aimed at expanding access to identity services, strengthening public confidence in the system, and improving operational efficiency across all service channels.
It also urged Nigerians and legal residents to make use only of official communication channels, warning against misinformation and fraudulent platforms claiming to offer identity-related services.
According to the statement, the digital support tools are expected to reduce congestion at NIMC offices while improving response time for millions of citizens seeking identity verification and registration services.
