Dickson hosts Obidient delegates, welcomes new NDC members

Former Bayelsa State Governor and National Leader of the NDC, Senator Seriake Dickson, on Sunday hosted a delegation of coordinators and members of the Obidient Movement from across the country in what he described as a “useful and engaging interaction” aimed at strengthening party cohesion and widening political participation.
The meeting, held in the presence of members of the National Working Committee of the NDC, brought together representatives of the movement from various states, with discussions centered on democratic participation, post-2023 election engagement, and pathways to full integration into the party structure.
Welcoming the delegation, Dickson commended their role in Nigeria’s democratic process, particularly during the 2023 general elections and thereafter.
“I used the opportunity to thank them for their commitment to democratic change in Nigeria.
” I appreciate what they are doing, especially from my background as one who has been in the opposition trenches from a very young age and consistently since 1998 till date,” he said.
He urged the delegates to deepen their involvement by working with their respective state chairmen of the party to ensure full integration into the NDC nationwide structure, adding, “I encouraged them to continue to do their best and assured them that the NDC is in safe hands.”
The NDC leader also emphasised the importance of unity and sustained political engagement, noting that the growing participation of citizens from different movements was a positive signal for the party’s future.
Dickson also received Bayelsa-based entrepreneur and politician Hon. Diepreye Abaye Leghemo, popularly known as the “Dangote of Bayelsa,” who formally joined the NDC.
“I thanked him for joining the NDC, which remains the right vehicle for our people,” Dickson said, while urging him to contribute actively to the party’s vision and development agenda.
The gathering also featured the donation of a vehicle by a young supporter from Kano State, a gesture Dickson described as a reflection of grassroots commitment to the party’s growth.
“I thank him, as well as all those who, since the launch of this party, have continued to support the NDC through various donations and contributions.
”May God replenish their resources abundantly,” he added.
The event ended with Dickson expressing optimism that the increasing influx of supporters from across regions signals a broader national desire for unity, inclusion, and progress under the NDC platform.
