Shettima Urges Nigerians To Pray For Peace, Unity

Vice President Kashim Shettima has called on Nigerians to pray fervently for peace, unity, and stability in the country, assuring that the administration of President Bola Tinubu remains fully committed to restoring security across all parts of the nation.

He also assured that the Federal Government is working to secure the safe return of children and other citizens currently held by bandits and terrorist groups, while paying tribute to those who sacrificed their lives in defence of Nigeria’s democracy.

Shettima made the appeal on Friday in Abuja shortly after a special Jummat prayer held at the National Mosque as part of activities marking this year’s Democracy Day celebrations.

“I want to assure Nigerians of President Bola Tinubu’s unwavering commitment towards restoring peace and stability in the nation.

“No matter how long the night is, it must give way to the light of dawn. Stormy as the weather may be, it will not rain forever.

”The government remains irrevocably committed to restoring peace and stability in the nation,” he said.

The Vice President urged Nigerians to continue to pray for the country and one another, stressing that national unity remains essential in overcoming the country’s challenges.

Earlier in his sermon, the Imam of the National Mosque, Haroun Eze, called on citizens to remain patriotic and support efforts aimed at strengthening national security.

He also urged leaders at all levels to take decisive steps to address insecurity and ensure lasting peace and development.

The annual Democracy Day prayer service featured reflections on national unity, governance, and security as Nigeria marked another milestone in its democratic journey amid ongoing challenges.

The event was attended by several dignitaries, including the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum and Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq; Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris; Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola; and former Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje.

Others present included former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Yayale Ahmed; Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Abubakar Kyari; and outgoing JAMB Registrar, Ishaq Oloyede.
