Dickson, Obi lead NDC leaders to honour Egwuaba

The founder and National Leader of the NDC, Senator Seriake Dickson, on Thursday led top leaders of the party, alongside its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, to the Service of Songs held in honour of the late Solomon Egwuaba, describing his death as a painful reminder of the fragility of life and the enduring value of compassion, faith and unity.

The solemn event, attended by members of the National Working Committee (NWC) and other party leaders, was held in honour of Solomon Egwuaba, the elder brother of the NDC National Legal Adviser, Barrister Reuben Egwuaba.

Speaking during the service, Dickson conveyed the condolences of his family and the entire NDC to the bereaved family, the Ibaji community, friends and associates of the deceased, praying for God’s comfort and strength during the difficult period.

He also commended the party’s leadership and members for standing firmly with the Egwuaba family, saying the overwhelming support demonstrated the NDC’s commitment to unity and genuine brotherhood beyond politics.

Reflecting on the life of the late Solomon Egwuaba, Dickson said the glowing tributes and heartfelt testimonies presented at the event portrayed him as a cheerful, humble and admirable man who remained optimistic despite prolonged health challenges.

The former Bayelsa State governor noted that the late Egwuaba’s courage in the face of illness resonated deeply with him, recalling his personal experience of losing his mother to cancer and the emotional burden such battles place on families.

“His passing reminds us that life is fragile and that dreams can be cut short unexpectedly. Yet, we draw comfort from our faith in God, who alone gives and takes life according to His divine will,” Dickson said.

He further revealed that despite his health condition, the late Solomon Egwuaba remained passionate about Nigeria’s future and continued to identify with and encourage the ideals and activities of the NDC.

According to Dickson, the deceased’s unwavering optimism, gratitude and commitment to national development, even in difficult circumstances, stood as an inspiration to all who knew him.

He offered prayers for Almighty God to grant eternal rest to the departed, comfort the Egwuaba family and perfect all that Solomon Egwuaba left behind.

Dickson also expressed appreciation to the NDC presidential candidate, Peter Obi, the National Chairman, members of the National Working Committee and other party leaders for their solidarity, stressing that the NDC represents more than a political platform.

“In the NDC, we are not only building a political party; we are building a family founded on unity, brotherliness and shared purpose,” he said.

The service of songs concluded with prayers for the peaceful repose of Solomon Egwuaba’s soul and renewed calls for members to uphold the values of compassion, service and solidarity that defined his life.
