Nigerian Navy seizes N1.3bn illegal oil in Rivers

The Nigerian Navy has recovered over 1.2 million litres of suspected illegally refined petroleum products and stolen crude oil valued at more than N1.3 billion in Rivers State.

The operations were conducted by NNS Pathfinder under Operation Delta Sentinel, aimed at curbing crude oil theft and illegal refining activities in the Niger Delta.

According to the Director of Naval Information, Abiodun Folorunsho, troops uncovered a major illegal refining site in Umoku, Ndoni, where they found dugout pits and makeshift refining ovens used to process stolen crude.

The Navy also recovered additional stolen crude in Allison Community and intercepted vessels suspected of carrying stolen oil during separate maritime operations.
