JAMB releases first 2026 UTME results

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has announced the release of results for 632,788 candidates who sat for the first day of the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.
The disclosure was made in a statement issued by the board’s spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, confirming that candidates who wrote the exam on Thursday can now access their scores.
According to the board, candidates are required to send “UTMERESULT” via SMS to either 55019 or 66019 using the same phone number used during registration.
At this stage, only result viewing is available, as printing of official result slips has not yet commenced.
The board noted that the examination process was still ongoing nationwide, adding that additional batches of results will be released in phases as marking and processing continue.
This gradual release system, it explained, is part of efforts to ensure accuracy and credibility in the results.
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board also warned against any attempt to manipulate or falsify examination results.
Candidates were specifically cautioned not to alter SMS messages received from official platforms in a bid to misrepresent their scores to parents, guardians, or the public.
Describing such acts as criminal, the board revealed that enforcement actions have already been taken.
According to the statement, two candidates and one parent are currently in custody for allegedly falsifying results using artificial intelligence and other digital tools.
The board reiterated its commitment to maintaining transparency and credibility in Nigeria’s admission system.
It urged candidates to rely only on official channels for information and to uphold honesty throughout the examination process, warning that offenders would face the full weight of the law.
As the 2026 UTME continues across the country, the board said it remains focused on delivering a fair and reliable process for all candidates.
