Dickson welcomes Marafa to NDC fold

Former Bayelsa State governor and founder of the NDC, Senator Seriake Dickson, has announced the defection of former federal lawmaker Kabir Marafa to the party, describing it as a boost to its growing national profile.
Dickson on Tuesday disclosed that Marafa, a former senator and prominent political figure in Zamfara State, was formally received into the National Democratic Coalition in the company of the party’s National Chairman and members of its National Working Committee.
He said the party leadership warmly welcomed the Zamfara politician and his supporters as he pledged commitment to advancing the NDC’s vision and leading its expansion in the state.
“Today, in the company of the National Chairman and members of the National Working Committee of the NDC, it was a pleasure to receive my friend and brother, Distinguished Senator Kabir Marafa… into the NDC alongside his teeming supporters,” Dickson said.
Dickson, representing Bayelsa West in the Senate, noted that Marafa’s entry into the party would further strengthen its presence in Zamfara, expressing confidence in his capacity to promote peace, stability and development under the NDC platform.
“We call on all Nigerians, especially the good people of Zamfara State, to continue to pray and work for peace, stability, and development, values which Senator Marafa will no doubt promote and showcase on the platform of the NDC,” he added.
Dickson also used the occasion to commend Nigerians for what he described as a surge in membership registration, urging aspiring party officials and electoral contenders to complete their registration ahead of the deadline.
According to him, the party’s congresses are scheduled for next week, with a call for peaceful and orderly conduct nationwide as leaders move to harmonise party structures.
“Our congresses are scheduled for next week, and we call for peaceful and orderly congresses across the country, where leaders will be expected to harmonise our structures nationwide,” he said.
Highlighting the party’s rapid growth, Dickson said that within three months, the NDC has emerged as one of Nigeria’s fastest-growing political platforms, adding that it remains free of internal disputes and litigation.
“It is a party without court cases, disputes, or litigation, and with no encumbrances whatsoever.
”We therefore call on Nigerians to discountenance any form of propaganda or misinformation aimed at undermining the progress of the party,” he stated.
He also acknowledged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for uploading the party’s logo and details of its officials on its official website, describing it as confirmation of the party’s legitimacy.
Dickson reiterated appreciation to Marafa and his supporters for joining the party, expressing optimism that the NDC would continue to expand its reach and influence across the country in the coming weeks.
He wished Nigeria continued progress and stability.
