Police confirm suicide of poly student in Ondo

The Police Command in Ondo State has confirmed the death of a 20-year-old student of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, who was found dead in his residence in Emure-Ile, Oyo state.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, in Akure on Tuesday.
The deceased, identified as Audi Emmanuel, a computer engineering student of the institution, was reportedly found hanging in his apartment along awolowo road, Emure-Ile, near the Amotekun office.
According to DSP jimoh, police operatives were immediately deployed to the scene following the report of the incident.
He said the officers recovered the body and deposited it at a morgue for preservation and autopsy.
Jimoh stated that preliminary findings suggested a case of suicide, although a full investigation has been launched to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the death.
He added that the command commiserates with the family of the deceased and urged members of the public to seek help and speak up during moments of emotional distress, noting that support systems are available.
The police spokesperson emphasised the importance of mental health awareness and timely intervention in preventing similar tragedies.
