EFCC arraigns influencer Blessing CEO over N36m fraud

The Lagos Zonal Directorate 1 of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has brought popular social media personality and relationship coach, Okoro Blessing Nkiruka, widely known as Blessing CEO, before the Federal High Court in Ikoyi over allegations of fraud involving N36 million.

She was arraigned before Justice Deinde Dipeolu on a two-count charge bordering on obtaining money by false pretence and unlawful conversion of funds.

According to the charge, the defendant is accused of receiving N36 million from a complainant under the claim of leasing a luxury property in Lagos, an allegation the prosecution says was false and intended to deceive.

The EFCC further alleged that the funds were later converted for personal use, contrary to provisions of Nigeria’s Advance Fee Fraud and other related offences laws.

During proceedings, the defence counsel informed the court that part of the disputed sum had already been refunded, adding that discussions were ongoing to settle the outstanding balance with the complainant.

The defence also urged the court to grant time for the completion of bail arrangements, while noting that the defendant had only recently been served with the charge.

The prosecution opposed any delay, insisting that the matter was ready for arraignment and should proceed as scheduled.

After hearing both sides, the trial judge ordered that the defendant remain in EFCC custody pending the fulfilment of bail conditions.

Blessing CEO pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The court adjourned the matter to June 5, 2026, for commencement of trial.
