Delta Govt Defends Oborevwori’s Three-Year Record

The Delta State Government has dismissed criticisms of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration, describing them as misleading and based on selective interpretation.
It said the administration has recorded significant achievements across key sectors under its MORE Agenda.
Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Festus Ahon, said the report questioning the government’s performance was an opinion piece lacking factual balance.
He stated that the government has pursued balanced development across all sectors of the state economy.
Ahon said the administration has focused on infrastructure, education, healthcare, empowerment, and rural development.
He argued that the government’s approach goes beyond road construction to include social and economic reforms.
According to him, Delta State has executed major projects without borrowing funds.
He said prudent financial management has placed the state among well-managed sub-national governments.
Ahon listed several infrastructure projects across the state, including flyovers, bridges, and road networks.
These include projects in PTI Junction, Enerhen, DSC Roundabout, Otovwodo, and Agbor.
He also highlighted ongoing works on the Trans-Warri Road and several bridge projects across senatorial districts.
The spokesman said flood control and drainage systems are being implemented in vulnerable communities.
He added that urban renewal projects are ongoing in major cities including Asaba and Warri.
In the health sector, Ahon said the government has invested in modern diagnostic and treatment equipment.
These include CT scanners, MRI machines, dialysis units, and multiple ultrasound systems.
He also said more than 150 primary healthcare centres are being upgraded across the state.
Ahon noted the completion of a new College of Health Technology in Ovrode.
He added that a Faculty of Medical Sciences building has been completed at Southern Delta University, Ozoro.
In education, he said the government has recruited thousands of teachers to improve learning outcomes.
He added that schools have been upgraded and technical education strengthened.
The administration has also expanded empowerment programmes for residents.
These include initiatives such as D-CARES, MORE Grants, MORE Biz-Up, and WESAP.
Ahon said hundreds of thousands of people have benefited from skills training and financial support schemes.
He dismissed claims that agriculture has been neglected, saying support to farmers continues.
He cited provision of inputs, extension services, and rural access roads.
The government also highlighted rural development projects in riverine and underserved communities.
Ahon said water and electrification projects are improving living conditions in rural areas.
He added that security infrastructure is being strengthened through police facility support.
He defended plans to build divisional police headquarters across local government areas.
He said such investments would enhance safety and attract economic growth.
According to him, development should be judged by impact on citizens rather than commentary.
Ahon said visible improvements across sectors demonstrate that the government is delivering on its promises..
He reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to the MORE Agenda.
He said the government will continue to pursue development, inclusion, and improved security across Delta State.
