Man arrested over wife’s death in Nasarawa

 

 

The Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested a 30-year-old man, Musbawu Amodu, over the alleged killing of his 20-year-old wife following a domestic dispute in Angwan Yahaya, Agyaragu, Obi Local Government Area.

Police said the incident was reported to the Agyaragu Police Division on Sunday afternoon, prompting officers to respond immediately.

The victim was taken to the Federal University Teaching Hospital in Lafia, where her body was preserved for further examination.

According to police, the suspect allegedly confessed during interrogation, claiming he assaulted his wife after an argument over food preparation escalated into violence. Authorities said he later expressed remorse over the incident.

The deceased, who had been married to the suspect for six years, is survived by two young children.

Commissioner of Police Shetima Mohammed has ordered the transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Lafia for a comprehensive investigation.

He assured residents that the suspect would be prosecuted if found culpable.
The police chief condemned domestic violence, describing the incident as tragic and preventable.

He urged couples to resolve disagreements peacefully and through lawful means, while assuring the public that security in the area remains stable.
