Tinubu makes 26 fresh federal appointments

 President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of 26 officials to head and serve in 10 Federal Government agencies and commissions, with former Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, named Chairman of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA).

The appointments were announced in a statement issued on Monday by the President’s spokesperson, Mr Bayo Onanuga.

Fayose would chair the REA board alongside Alhaji Ahmadu Abubakar and Ilyasu Makinta as non-executive directors.

The board also included the agency’s Director-General, Abba Aliyu, and three previously appointed executive directors.

Retired Maj.-Gen. Junaid Bindawa was appointed Chairman of the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission, while former lawmaker, Mrs Olajumoke Okoya-Thomas, would serve as the commission’s secretary.

The President also named Dr Ogbole Lilian, Oladele Olatubosun, Yakubu Barde, Mai Adamu Yau, Ginika Tor, Lawrence Okoh and Bello Morenike Iyabode as commissioners representing different states on the commission.

In another appointment, Tosin Adeyanju was redeployed from the National Lottery Trust Fund to become Secretary of the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission.

Other key appointments include Dr Abuh Mohammed as Director-General of the National Population Commission, Dr Akinola Odeyemi as Managing Director of the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Plc, and Dr Anthony Godwin as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission.

Julius Oloro was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the National Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation, while Dr Abdullahi Saidu will head the Fiscal Responsibility Commission as chairman.

The President also named Shuni Dahiru as Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education, while Gisaor Iorja was appointed Executive Director (Finance) of the Federal Housing Authority.

According to the Presidency, all the appointments take immediate effect.
