The Delta State Government has cautioned members of the public, particularly job seekers, against falling victim to fraudsters exploiting the ongoing recruitment of about 700 personnel into the Ministry of Health.
Commissioner for Health, Dr. Joseph Onojaeme, disclosed that scammers have been impersonating him on Facebook, WhatsApp and other social media platforms, demanding money from applicants with false promises of securing jobs in the state civil service.
He also said the fraud syndicate is using fake accounts and the WhatsApp number 07055502867, falsely claiming to represent him in exchange for payments.
Onojaeme distanced himself from the phone number, insisting it does not belong to him, and dismissed claims that his official line had been hacked, describing the story as a ploy to deceive unsuspecting applicants.
The commissioner further stressed that recruitment into the Delta State Civil Service is conducted through established government procedures that are transparent, merit-based and completely free of charge.
He urged residents to ignore messages, phone calls and social media offers requesting money for employment, warning that “anyone who transacts with such individuals does so at their own risk.”
Onojaeme further advised the public to report suspicious recruitment-related activities to security agencies, assuring that the ministry is working with law enforcement authorities to identify, arrest and prosecute those behind the fraudulent scheme while safeguarding the integrity of the ongoing recruitment exercise.
