Obasanjo targets 10,000 Lagos residents for free healthcare

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo is set to provide free medical services to over 10,000 residents in Lagos State as part of activities marking his 89th birthday, officials confirmed on Sunday.

The outreach, organised by the Olusegun Obasanjo Foundation, would take place in the Ikorodu and Alimosho Local Government areas from February 27 to March 4, offering comprehensive healthcare at no cost.

“The Lagos Medical Mission is a legacy-driven humanitarian effort reflecting Obasanjo’s lifelong commitment to Nigerians’ health and well-being,” said Dr. Olalekan Makinde, CEO of the Foundation.

The programme begins February 27 at Ijede LCDA Council Hall, Ikorodu, followed by Imota Mini Stadium, Ikorodu on February 28.

From March 2 to 4, it will move to Alade Stadium, Agbado/Oke-Odo, Alimosho.

Services for beneficiaries include:
Free ear care and hearing aids for qualified participants.

Detailed eye screening, prescription glasses, and referrals for eye surgeries.

Cardiovascular screenings, blood pressure checks, heart assessments, and preventive counseling.

Distribution of essential medications, all free of charge.

Dr. Makinde emphasised that the mission is open to elderly residents, children, families, and vulnerable individuals with untreated hearing, vision, or cardiovascular issues.

“The initiative embodies Obasanjo’s vision of accessible healthcare and compassionate support for underserved communities,” he added, urging residents to take advantage of the free services.
