The has dismissed reports alleging a planned cult-related clash in parts of Lagos State, describing the claims as false and urging residents to remain calm and go about their normal activities.

In a statement issued on Monday, the Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi, said the command was aware of messages circulating online suggesting an imminent clash in areas such as Shitta, Akerele, Itire/Aguda, and Ishaga.

According to Adebisi, the messages falsely claimed that violence was being planned in retaliation for an earlier incident, a narrative the police strongly rejected.

She explained that proactive security measures had already been taken immediately after the initial reports, with personnel and operational assets deployed across the affected communities to prevent any breakdown of law and order.

The Commissioner of Police, reportedly ordered intensified patrols, strategic deployment of officers, and increased police visibility in identified flashpoints across the state.

“The areas are well secured, and adequate security coverage has been put in place to deter any unlawful gatherings or activities,” Abimbola Adebisi stated.

The command reassured residents that there is no cause for alarm, adding that security agencies remain fully on ground to maintain peace and stability across Lagos State.

While acknowledging public concerns, Adebisi urged residents to disregard unverified information capable of causing panic and to rely only on official communication channels.

She also encouraged members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious movements or activities to the nearest police station or through emergency hotlines, stressing the importance of community cooperation in maintaining security.
