The Delta State Police Command has praised Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for increasing investment in security, saying the support has improved policing, strengthened crime-fighting efforts and boosted public safety across the state.
Delta State Commissioner of Police, Yemi Oyeniyi, gave the commendation during a meeting with officials of the Delta State Security Trust Fund (DSSTF) at the Police Command Headquarters in Asaba.
He said the state government’s consistent funding and logistical support have enhanced the operational capacity of the police, enabling officers to respond more effectively to security challenges.
The commissioner highlighted the construction of a modern interrogation centre and a digital data room as major achievements that have improved intelligence gathering and criminal investigations.
While appreciating the support received, Oyeniyi called for further assistance in maintaining patrol vehicles, acquiring advanced security technology, expanding community policing and improving public engagement through digital platforms.
Responding, DSSTF Chairman Daniel Mayuku reaffirmed the board’s commitment to providing infrastructure, equipment and logistics needed by security agencies to protect lives and property.
Executive Secretary Samuel Osasa also assured that the Oborevwori administration would continue investing in programmes aimed at strengthening security and improving the effectiveness of law enforcement across Delta State.
Both the Police Command and the Security Trust Fund pledged to sustain their partnership in tackling crime and preserving peace throughout the state.
