Ayra Starr sets July release date for ‘Starr Girl’

Nigerian Afrobeats star Ayra Starr has confirmed that her third studio album, Starr Girl, will be released in July 2026, marking another major step in her rapidly evolving music career.

The announcement was made during her appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show, where the award-winning singer spoke candidly about the project and her excitement ahead of its release.

“I’m really proud of this body of work,” she said, noting that the album reflects deep personal and artistic investment.

The upcoming album has been generating buzz since it was first teased in 2025, with fans closely tracking hints about its sound and direction.

According to the 23-year-old artist, Starr Girl represents her third full-length studio effort and is expected to showcase a more expansive creative vision compared to her earlier works.

In the months leading up to the announcement, Ayra Starr released several singles that offer insight into the album’s evolving sound.

One of the standout tracks, Where Do We Go, debuted in March 2026 and was performed live during her television appearance.

The song reflects a shift from her traditional Afrobeats roots toward a fusion of dancehall and pop influences.

This stylistic evolution signals a deliberate attempt to reach a broader international audience while maintaining her distinctive vocal identity.

Throughout 2025, the singer maintained a strong presence on the charts with songs like Hot Body and Gimme Dat, the latter earning a Grammy nomination and featuring fellow Nigerian star Wizkid.

She also collaborated with Rema on Who’s Dat Girl and explored Afro-R&B sounds on All The Love, further demonstrating her versatility.

In a separate interview, the singer explained that Starr Girl breaks away from the naming pattern of her earlier albums, embracing a broader artistic concept.

She hinted that the project will feature a mix of genres and themes, encouraging listeners to expect variety rather than a single dominant sound.

Although the official tracklist has not yet been revealed, Ayra Starr teased a collaboration with Afrobeats sensation Asake.

The prospect of high-profile features has fueled speculation that the album could mirror the star-studded nature of her previous project, The Year I Turned 21.

The announcement followed a strong start to 2026 for the singer, who recently won the Best International Act category at the MOBO Awards.

She has also continued to expand her collaborative footprint, appearing on Colorado by Johnny Drille alongside Young Jonn.

With growing international recognition and a string of successful releases, Ayra Starr appears poised to further cement her position as one of Afrobeats’ leading global voices when Starr Girl arrives in July.
