Anambra Police Deny Viral Military Helicopter Claim

The Anambra State Police Command has dismissed a viral social media report alleging that a military helicopter dropped unidentified objects in a bush between Nimo and Adazi-Nnukwu communities in Anaocha Local Government Area.
The Command described the claim as false and urged residents to remain calm and disregard the misleading information.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said operatives were immediately deployed to the area after the report surfaced online.
He noted that a thorough assessment of the location showed no suspicious objects or security threats, adding that the area remained peaceful with normal activities ongoing.
Anambra State Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, advised residents to ignore the rumour and avoid spreading unverified reports capable of causing panic.
He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to intelligence-led policing and collaboration with other security agencies to maintain peace across the state.
The Command also urged residents to verify security information through official channels and report suspicious activities to the nearest police formation.
It warned that the spread of misinformation on social media could create unnecessary fear and undermine public confidence in security operations.
