Fubara commends labour for dialogue in Rivers State

Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers has commended the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), the Trade Union Congress (TUC), and other affiliate unions in the state for choosing dialogue over confrontation in resolving industrial disputes.
Fubara said the approach has helped to sustain industrial harmony across Rivers State and strengthen peaceful labour relations.
The governor gave the commendation in a goodwill message to workers in the state to mark the 2026 May Day celebration.
He noted that the relative peace in workplaces was a reflection of the maturity of organised labour leadership, urging continued commitment to dialogue as a tool for resolving disagreements.
Fubara also encouraged labour unions to keep negotiations open in order to further strengthen industrial relations and promote productivity in the state.
The governor disclosed that the rehabilitation of the State Secretariat Complex was ongoing, adding that the project is aimed at improving working conditions and boosting efficiency in the civil service once completed.
He said a better work environment would enhance productivity and support effective public service delivery.
Fubara praised civil servants for maintaining peace, stability, and cooperation over the past 35 months, despite political tensions in the state.
He assured workers that their commitment and sacrifices would not go unrewarded.
Acknowledging current economic challenges, the governor said rising living costs and transportation expenses have placed pressure on households.
However, he noted that workers have continued to persevere because of their belief in Rivers State.
Fubara pledged that his administration would not betray that trust, reaffirming his commitment to workers’ welfare and improved governance in the state.
