Oborevwori Mourns Agbor Train Tragedy, Orders Emergency Response

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta has expressed profound sadness over the tragic train accident that occurred in Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area, resulting in the death of four persons and leaving several others injured.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, the governor extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and prayed for the quick recovery of those currently receiving medical treatment for injuries sustained in the accident.
Oborevwori described the incident as both heartbreaking and unfortunate, stressing that the loss of lives represented a painful tragedy not only for the bereaved families but also for the entire state.
The governor assured residents that the state government responded swiftly to the emergency by mobilising relevant authorities to the scene to assist victims and coordinate rescue operations.
According to the statement, Oborevwori immediately directed the Commissioner for Special Duties, alongside the Chairmen of Ika South and Ika North-East Local Government Areas, to proceed to the accident site and oversee rescue and relief efforts.
He also commended security agencies for their prompt response to the situation.
The governor disclosed that the Commissioner of Police personally visited the scene and deployed sufficient security personnel to protect passengers’ belongings and other valuables recovered from the train.
The statement also revealed that injured victims were quickly evacuated to nearby hospitals for urgent medical attention. Survivors who escaped without injuries were transported to safety within the town, while the bodies of the deceased were deposited in a mortuary.
As part of the emergency response measures, buses were immediately deployed to facilitate the evacuation of survivors and injured passengers from the accident scene.
